Arts & Culture
Inspiring Reflection
Art has the power to make complex challenges tangible and transform them into shared human experiences. Through exhibitions, vernissages, and readings, the BMW Foundation creates spaces where culture becomes a starting point for dialogue, international understanding, and meaningful exchange. By bringing together international leaders, artists, and the wider public, these encounters foster new perspectives on the forces shaping our societies and remind us that lasting transformation begins with understanding one another.
Arts & Culture
We believe that art and culture can reveal new perspectives on the challenges shaping our societies. By creating encounters between artistic expression and leadership, the Arts & Culture format opens space for dialogue, reflection, and fresh thinking. Through exhibitions, vernissages, readings, artist talks, and interdisciplinary conversations, participants engage directly with artists, authors, and other cultural voices, exploring complex issues through human stories and creative perspectives. Each gathering encourages curiosity, fosters meaningful exchange, and invites conversations that extend beyond the artwork itself.
This format has featured a wide range of artists, authors, photographers, and cultural practitioners whose work explores the defining questions of our time. Events range from documentary photography exhibitions and literary readings to conversations that connect artistic expression with public life. A recent example was the German premiere of Margot Friedländer. A Voice for Life, where photography, literature, and dialogue came together to explore remembrance, humanity, and reconciliation. Each edition demonstrates how culture can deepen our understanding of complex issues and foster meaningful exchange across disciplines and communities.
The series brings together established and emerging voices from the worlds of visual arts, literature, photography, and culture. Featured guests include:
- Ute and Werner Mahler
- Sarker Protick
- Sebastian Wells
