Future Urban Living

CONTENTS

Our goal

Shaping Innovative, Resilient, and Sustainable Spaces

The BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt believes that the future of urban development must go beyond building bigger and smarter cities. Creating thriving communities requires stronger social cohesion, climate resilience, and collaboration across sectors and regions. We support approaches that connect urban innovation with local realities and long-term societal well-being.

Our Work
Creating future-ready cities requires approaches that are collaborative, locally grounded, and adaptable to different regional realities. The BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt supports initiatives and partnerships that help turn innovative ideas into practical solutions for urban transformation. Our work focus on:
  • Cross-sector collaboration between business, policy, science, and civil society
  • Community-driven innovation that reflects local needs and lived realities
  • Systems thinking that connects infrastructure, climate, mobility, and social development
  • Scaling successful local approaches across cities and regions
  • Supporting leaders and changemakers driving urban transformation
Together, we aim to strengthen resilient communities, foster trust in urban transformation, and support more inclusive and sustainable urban development.

Collaborative Action Platform (CAP) Brazil

The Collaborative Action Platform Brazil (CAP) supports local leaders and organizations working to address urban climate risks, inequality, and infrastructure challenges in some of Brazil’s most vulnerable regions. By fostering collaboration, aligning resources, and advancing climate adaptation and nature-based solutions, CAP helps strengthen resilience and improve quality of life for local communities.
