Energy Transition & Climate Change

CONTENTS

Our goal

Accelerating the Transition to a Net-Zero Future

Affordable, secure and clean energy is essential for thriving economies and societies. At the same time, energy production remains one of the largest drivers of global CO₂ emissions. Accelerating the transition to sustainable energy requires stronger international collaboration, cross-sector partnerships, and scalable solutions that can drive impact at global scale.

Our Work
Many of the technologies needed for the energy transition already exist. The challenge is scaling them faster, strengthening cooperation across sectors, and creating the conditions for long-term implementation and impact. Our work focuses on:
  • Prototyping and showcasing new forms of cross-sector collaboration
  • Advancing resilient energy and infrastructure systems
  • Scaling and deploying innovative solutions that will propel society forward
  • Fostering international partneships and knowledge exchange
  • Building trust for an energy transition benefiting as many people as possible

Through initiatives, dialogue, and partnerships, we help connect ideas, expertise, and stakeholders to drive practical solutions and long-term impact.

Energy Resilience Leadership Group (ERLG)

We’ve teamed up with the Energy Resilience Leadership Group (ERLG) to guide leaders in their efforts to reduce Europe’s dependence on natural gas. With its industry connections and wealth of knowledge, the ERLG will serve as a valuable partner in accelerating the energy transition. The goal of this private-public-philanthropic partnership is to bring leaders from politics, industry, and the financial world together to achieve an energy breakthrough as quickly as possible.

Werkstatt des Wandels

Germany is undergoing profound change. Industry, energy systems and entire regions are being reshaped by decarbonization, digitalization and a world marked by growing geopolitical and economic uncertainty. The Werkstatt des Wandels brings people to the places where this future is already taking shape. Places where solutions are tested, partnerships are built and transformation becomes tangible.

In 2026, the series will visit key locations at the forefront of the energy transition, industrial transformation and digital sovereignty. Together with leaders from business, policy, science and civil society, we will explore one defining question: How can transformation strengthen economic prosperity, social cohesion and democratic resilience at the same time?
